Apprenticeship Scheme

SLP began its current apprenticeship scheme over twenty years ago and since then has provided 90 apprentices with training; 85 of these successfully completed their qualification. This gives SLP a 94% success rate (compared to a national average of 49%), a record which both SLP and the training provider Lowestoft College are justifiably proud.

The focus of SLP’s apprenticeship scheme is to maintain a healthy supply of fully qualified tradesmen to replace those employees who began their Oil and Gas careers when the North Sea first went into production during the 1960’s. It also provides the basic training for tradesmen, providing skills for life and thus the building blocks to go forward and develop future careers within the industry.

SLP currently has apprentices in training covering the disciplines of Electrician, Plater, Pipefitter and Welder.
