Hawthorn Project

SLP Energy has re-submitted a planning application to the District of Easington Council for the construction and operation of a wind farm near Hawthorn, County Durham.

The proposal consists of two wind turbines and associated infrastructure, located on agricultural land located to the west A19 Trunk Road, adjacent to the village of Murton in County Durham. Each turbine is proposed to have a maximum generating capacity of 2.5 Mega Watts, with a hub height of up to 60 metres and a rotor diameter of up to 90 metres, giving a maximum height to the blade tip of 105 metres.

A planning application was previously submitted for this scheme in 2008. During the statutory consultation period several concerns were raised, therefore to enable further review of these issues the original application was withdrawn. Additional study work has since been completed resulting in the removal of the further turbine to the land east of the A19, reducing the scheme to two turbines.
