Kessingland Project

The proposal is for two wind turbines, located to the south of Kessingland Village. One turbine will be on land within the Africa Alive Wildlife Park, the other on arable farm land to the West of Africa Alive and adjacent to the A12.

Each turbine is proposed to have a maximum generating capacity of 3 Mega Watts, with a hub height of up to 80 metres and a rotor diameter of up to 90 metres, giving a maximum height to the blade tip of 125 metres.

Current Status

Following the submission of a planning application in December 2006, Kessingland Wind Farm was granted consent by a Planning Inspector, on behalf of the Secretary of State, on May 1st 2008.

Further to this grant of consent, a challenge to the appeal decision has been submitted, which was the subject of a Judicial Review. In April 2009 this challenge was dismissed. Work is now currently in progress to complete detailed design and procurement of two wind turbines for the site and construction is expected to commence during 2010.
